Drosselmeyer's Gift Scholarship Fund
We are very pleased to announce our first annual “Drosselmeyer’s Gift” Scholarship recipient, Sophie Kwon.
Drosselmeyer’s Gift is a scholarship award created in honor of Keith Poss, our "Uncle Drosselmeyer extraordinaire". Keith was a community leader with such a giving heart. He loved working with our dancers. Watching them grow from young Angels and Cookies, to one of "his Clara's", to a member of the corps, brought Keith so much joy. Keith's involvement in our productions gave our students the sense that what they were doing in the ballet school was important. It was not just 'a kid's show' to Keith. He instilled so much pride in them through his support and encouragement. He took every child seriously and he never forgot a conversation he had with them. Keith's passing will leave a hole in our hearts and our school community and we hope that this scholarship will remind us all to be a bit more like him. Recipients demonstrate Keith's attributes of kindness, connection and community.
We are very grateful to the Katzman, McCormack and Yanpolski families whose charitable donations ensured the 2023 and 2024 scholarship awards. If you’d like to contribute to the “Drosselmeyer’s Gift” scholarship in Keith’s honor, we would be most grateful.
Congratulations to Sophie! She is a most deserving senior in our program who continues to demonstrate community leadership. She has a positive, warm outlook and respects and encourages the young students she student-teaches. She is friendly and engaging and understands how important meaningful relationships are to the growing students who look up to her.
