For Company Dancers Interested in Participation in the March 13-15 Joffrey Scholarship Tournament:
There are many packages/tracks that dancers may choose from and we are recommending dancers select the Ballet Package that includes 1 variation and 2 master classes - one of the classes is scored in the competition. Alternatively, dancers may select to register for a master class instead if they want to experience the tournament without competing this year. Dancers will register via the studio so they are representing Integral together and so that they are placed in the same master class (within their age group). Please check the website elitedancetournament.com beginning Oct 1 for package details.
To register through the studio– submit a check of either $49 (for one non-compete master class), or $245 for 1 variation and 2 master classes to the front desk. Please note that you must be available for the entire weekend as scheduling will not be confirmed until after registration. Joffrey anticipates starting with the youngest group (8-11) on Friday night and continuing through the weekend with progressively older dancers, but they cannot guarantee when your entry will take place.
There are regional and final awards for scholarships to Joffrey and Complexions summer intensives and they anticipate adding more companies, colleges and summer programs before the tournament.
Joffrey does not offer recommended guidelines for appropriate hours of ballet study for each age group so please follow Integral’s below. These requirements are to ensure that we are not setting our dancers up for failure. I want them to be confident in their strength, conditioning and ability and be able to successfully compete with peers in their age group from across the country. We will individually determine who will compete on pointe and who will not. These requirements are minimum standards necessary at their respective age for dancers to achieve a professional level.
Ages at the time of the competition (pointe, jazz, modern, rehearsals do not count):
Ages 8-9, Integral dancers taking at least 2 weekly ballet technique classes, lilac level
Ages 10-11, Integral dancers taking at least 3 weekly ballet technique classes, pink or red belt
Ages 12-13, Integral dancers taking at least 3 weekly ballet technique/ballet conditioning classes, pink or red belt
Ages 14-15, Integral dancers taking at least 4 weekly ballet technique/ballet conditioning classes, pink, red or black belt
Ages 16-19, Integral dancers taking at least 5 weekly ballet technique/ballet conditioning classes, black or diamond belt
